Chiropractic

chiro2One of the largest primary-contact health care professions in Ontario, chiropractic is a non-invasive, hands-on primary healthcare discipline that focuses on the musculoskeletal system. Chiropractors are first and foremost diagnosticians whose primary concern is to identify the root cause of your pain or injury using a patient’s health history, physical exam, special tests and x-rays (when required). Chiropractors undergo an additional four years of post graduate education after university level education with an emphasis on diagnosis, treatment and management of musculoskeletal issues. Chiropractic Doctors are well versed with differential diagnosis which means that if your problem is determined to be other than a musculoskeletal issue you will be sent to the appropriate referral point. Our Chiropractors are well respected in our community and if you require referral to medical specialists or special imaging techniques (CT scan or MRI) they can help expedite that process. Your health will be our Chiropractors first priority!

chiro31Chiropractors use a combination of treatments, all of which are predicated on the specific needs of the individual patient. Chiropractors employ manual therapy, joint manipulation/ mobilizations, adjustments, modalities, various soft tissue therapies, acupuncture, exercises, advice and education to treat a variety of neuromusculoskeletal conditions.  After taking a complete history and diagnosing a patient, a chiropractor can develop and carry out a comprehensive treatment/management plan, recommend therapeutic exercise and other non-invasive therapies, and provide nutritional, dietary and lifestyle counselling.

For many conditions, such as lower back pain, chiropractic care is frequently the primary method of treatment. Where other conditions exist, chiropractic care may complement or support medical treatment by relieving the musculoskeletal aspects associated with the condition. Even if you do not have a family doctor our chiropractors can be great resources to help you navigate the health care system to ensure you get the best care possible.

Chiropractic care may also be used to provide symptomatic relief for patients with chronic conditions. According to patient surveys, by treating the musculoskeletal elements of such disorders, chiropractic treatment has been shown to improve the general well-being of the patient.
